from Saturday, September 16
(apologies from Emily for not getting this out sooner....)
Today we rode from Bandon, OR (really spectacular) to Griffin, OR . It was a total of 86 miles. One of the hilliest days we've had but we had spectacular scenery of the sea stacks (??) on the ocean (rocks out in the Pacific Ocean). Really Beautiful.
Great day today. Supposed to be cloudy but it was a crystal clear blue sky which was perfect for sight-seeing and taking photos. It was really wonderful to because the fog (?) was coming off the ocean. It was just a wonderful day today.
Just really hilly.
On Friday we pedaled from edge of OR Dunes. They are 47(?) miles long from all the sand in the ocean going up into the forest. It was just spectacular. Had some really great sight seeing. Tons of climbing. A little chilly.
That's the thing about riding here. In the morning it's so cold. You warm up going up hills but you freeze going downhills. So I always keep my jacket on.
And it's supposed to get even cooler as we head enter the Redwoods tomorrow (big smile in his voice.)
So tomorrow, on Sunday, we cross over the border into CA and start our trek to San Francisco. We start through the Redwoods of Northern California and then down to Arcada, and then other towns down there. Really looking forward to that.
Even if it is sunny it will be hiding behind the redwood trees. It is supposed to rain in OR, but hopefully that won't go down in to CA.
That's it for now. Have a great weekend.
(from Emily.... there is still time to give if you haven't given yet.
